There are a number of temples all over the hill station.
The Dilwara temples are of special tourist interest. These caves are the most important tourist destinations in this region.
The Dilwara Jain temples were constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries. The marble used for the construction of these temples was brought from Makrana in Rajasthan, India. During your tours to the Dilwara temples you get an opportunity to appreciate the ornamental carvings and sculptures that decorate each part of these temples. These temples are dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras.
There are five temples of which two are very famous. These temples are the Vimal Vasahi temple, Shri Parshvanath temple, the Lun Vasahi, Shri Mahavir Swami and Shri Risha Lhdeo temple. Two brothers Tejpal and Vastupal who were ministers at Raja Varadnawarkar's court in Gujarat constructed Lun Vasahi temple. Tejpal and Vatsupal were followers of Neminath Bhagwan who was the 22nd Tirthankara. An interesting feature of the Lun Vasahi temple is the fact that the dome of this temple that is constructed of marble and is shaped in the form of a bundle of white transparent lotuses. The two statues outside the main gate of the temple are of special significance, it is believed that these statues are of the wives of the two brothers who constructed this temple.
The Vimal Vasahi temple is the oldest of the Dilwara temples and according to historical records is perhaps the first of these Jain temples. The Solanki king Bhim Deva constructed the Vimal Vasahi temple. The entire temple has been built out of pure marble.
Guru Shikhar is the highest mountain peak of Mount Abu and is one of the most important tourist destinations in the region. A small temple is located atop this peak and is also an important place of tourist interest. Most of the North India tour packages include a trip to the Guru Shikhar.
The temple that is located on the Guru Shikhar peak is dedicated to an incarnation of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu.
The other tourist destinations in Mount Abu are the Nakki Lake and the Brahmakhadd temple.
